Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026Effective date: August 2, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Keen PDF handles information when you use the Keen PDF Android application.
Keen PDF is an on-device document scanner, offline OCR tool, and PDF utility. Contact: [email protected].
2. Information Processed on Your Device
When you choose to use a feature, Keen PDF may access photos or images selected through Android's system photo picker, PDF files selected through Android's system document picker, camera images captured after you grant camera permission, text recognized from those images, and PDF or temporary processing files created by the app.
Keen PDF also stores your selected app language and a local index of PDF results created or processed with the app. This content is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or to a remote server.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
Keen PDF does not upload your documents, images, PDFs, recognized text, file contents, or file paths to Firebase or our servers.
The app does not require an account. Information that you voluntarily send to the support email is handled by the applicable email provider to respond to your request.
4. Permissions and System Access
Keen PDF requests camera permission only when you start document scanning. You may deny it and continue using features that do not require the camera.
Photos and documents are accessed through Android system pickers. Keen PDF receives access only to items you actively select. On Android 7 through Android 9, the app may request legacy storage write permission when saving a result to public Downloads. If denied, it offers Android's system Save As flow. Android 10 and later do not receive this storage permission from Keen PDF.
Keen PDF does not request all-files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE).
5. On-Device Processing and Firebase Services
Document edge detection, image cropping, PDF generation, PDF merging and splitting, preview rendering, and OCR are performed on the device. OCR models for Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Devanagari scripts are bundled with the app and do not require a network connection.
Keen PDF uses Firebase Crashlytics for app stability diagnostics and Firebase Analytics for anonymous product usage measurement. Crashlytics may process crash stack traces, relevant app state, device and app technical information, and installation identifiers. Firebase Analytics may process automatically collected app interaction, device, and app technical data, together with the limited custom events described below. Keen PDF may include advertisements and third-party advertising SDKs. Advertising providers may process device identifiers, app interaction data, and technical information to deliver, limit the frequency of, measure, and improve ads. Keen PDF does not provide advertising providers with documents, images, PDFs, recognized text, file contents, file paths, custom user IDs, custom keys, or custom logs.
The app's custom Analytics events are limited to tool start, tool completion, tool failure, OCR completion, OCR failure, and the selected OCR script category. These events never include document content, file names, file paths, file URIs, images, PDFs, or recognized text.
The application declares Android's Internet and network-state permissions for Firebase stability diagnostics and anonymous product measurement. It does not use that connection to upload documents, images, PDFs, or OCR text.
6. Advertising Choices
Where advertising is available, you may be able to control personalized advertising through your device settings and the controls offered by the applicable advertising provider. Disabling personalized ads may not remove all advertising. Advertising partners process information under their own privacy policies.
7. Storage and Retention
Temporary camera and processing files are stored in the app's private cache or files area and are removed when a task is completed, discarded, or cleaned up by Android. Generated PDF results are saved to Downloads/Keen PDF or to a location you choose through Android's Save As interface.
A local app database stores the file name, content URI, size, page count, and last-processed time for Keen PDF result files so they can appear in Home and Recent. OCR edits and unfinished task state may remain locally long enough to restore an interrupted task.
You control result-file retention. You can delete a result from Keen PDF after confirmation or manage it with your device's file tools. Uninstalling Keen PDF removes app-private data, but PDF files saved in public or user-selected storage may remain. Firebase Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated installation identifiers for up to 90 days before deletion begins, according to Firebase's published retention information.
8. Sharing and External Apps
Keen PDF shares a PDF or recognized text only when you select Share and choose another app through Android's system share interface. The selected recipient app or service handles that content under its own privacy policy. We do not receive the shared content.
Review Us, Share App, Privacy Policy, and Web Intro actions may open Google Play, a browser, or another app. Those third parties process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
9. Third-Party Components
Keen PDF uses AndroidX, CameraX, bundled Google ML Kit text-recognition models, OpenCV, PDFBox for Android, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Analytics. Firebase Crashlytics is used for crash and ANR stability diagnostics; Firebase Analytics is used for anonymous product usage measurement.
10. Data Sharing
We do not sell your documents, images, PDFs, recognized text, file contents, or file paths. Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics receive only the diagnostic, technical, and anonymous product-usage information described in this Policy. Advertising providers may receive the advertising-related device, interaction, and technical information described above, but not document content or file data.
11. Security
Keen PDF limits access to files selected by the user and uses Android platform storage and permission controls. App-private files are protected by Android's application sandbox. Public or user-selected output files are subject to your device security settings and any apps with which you choose to share them.
No method of device storage or software operation is guaranteed to be completely secure. Keep your device updated and use appropriate device access controls for sensitive documents.
12. Children's Privacy
Keen PDF is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users because the app does not transmit user documents to us.
13. Your Choices and Rights
Because Keen PDF does not transmit personal data to us, we generally do not hold personal data that can be accessed, corrected, exported, or deleted on request. You can deny or revoke camera permission in Android Settings, cancel a system file or photo selection, delete temporary tasks in the app, delete generated files through Keen PDF or device file tools, or clear app-private data and uninstall the app.
If you contact us, your email provider and support mailbox provider may process your message and contact details to respond to your request under their own privacy practices.
14. International Users
The app's core document processing is local to the device and is not transferred by Keen PDF to another country. Any information you independently send to the support email or an external service is handled by the relevant provider under its own privacy practices.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if Keen PDF's features, service providers, data practices, or legal requirements change. The published policy will show the effective date.
16. Contact
